Prof. Solomon Obiri-Yeboah

Prof. Solomon Obiri-Yeboah is an Associate Professor at the School of Dentistry, KNUST, and a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, Ghana. He is currently the Head of Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Sciences at KNUST and the National Cleft Care Center at KATH.
Renowned for his expertise in orofacial clefts and craniofacial surgery, Prof. Obiri-Yeboah pioneered Ghana’s first craniofacial surgery following international fellowship training at the University of Alabama. His career has spanned roles from Specialist to Senior Lecturer, culminating in his 2025 promotion to Associate Professor.
His academic background encompasses an MPhil in Health Systems Research Management from KNUST, fellowships from both the West African College of Surgeons and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, international fellowship in craniofacial surgery from Birmingham Alabama USA, and a focused research portfolio on the genetics of cleft and craniofacial conditions, the socioeconomic burdens of cleft care, and medico-legal ethics.
A leader in humanitarian efforts, he coordinates the Alabama–KATH Craniofacial Team and leads surgical training and missions across Ghana and West Africa. Notably, he chaired the Global Care Special Interest Group of the ACPA (2023–2025). He is a member of several elite professional bodies (GMA, GDA, WACS) and enjoys sightseeing, music, and exercising.
