Report on Parent Support Group Meeting organised at KATH, sponsord by GCF

The first quarterly meeting of the Cleft Parent-Support Group came off on the 24th of June 2016. About 100 parents and their children participated in the meeting. Mr Albert Osei-Bagyina gave a presentation on speech, after which he identified children who needed therapy and took them through individually.

Report on 2017 Speech Training Camp organised at Boadi Retreat Center, Kumasi

The Cleft Palate (CP) Speech Training Team at KATH Cleft Clinic, formed by Ms. Barbara Frimpong, Ms. Felicia Sarpong and Mr. Albert Osei-Bagyina organized a speech training programme for patients (Children and Adults) with repaired cleft palate.

2017 First Outreach at Upper West Regional Hospital

Ghana Cleft Foundation’s first free cleft surgical outreach for 2017 was held from the 21st-23rd May, 2017 at the Upper West Regional Hospital, Wa. This outreach was part of the collaboration between the Foundation, KATH, KNUST, and the Upper West Regional Hospital (UWRH). Ghana Cleft Foundation 2016 Party for the Kids

The 2016 end of year party for Children with Cleft Lip and Palate came off on the 21st January 2017 at Miklin Hotel – Danyame Kumasi, with the Ghana Cleft Foundation being the main sponsor. Cadbury Ghana Limited also provided chocolate drinks, and a canopy while Miklin Hotel contributed free space for the party.
About 250 parents and children from Accra, Koforidua, Techiman, Tamale, Sefwi, Takoradi, Mampong, Konongo as well as communities in the Kumasi municipality were in attendance. About 35 Cleft Team members/organizers also turned up for the party.

2017 PACT WorkShop on the Theme "Cleft Team Development and Expansion"

The GCF in conjunction with KNUST/KATH and University of Washington, Seattle USA, organised a workshop on the Theme "Cleft Team Development and Expansion". The programme took place on 6th - 10th November 2017 at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The Ghana Cleft Foundation (GCF) in conjunction with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and School of Medical Science (SMS-KNUST) will be providing FREE CLEFT SURGERIES to persons with cleft lip and palate from 21st - 26th May, 2017 in the Upper West Region.

About us

The idea for establishing the Ghana Cleft Foundation originated in 2005 from discussions among members of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Cleft Clinic. These discussions were informed by the firsthand experiences of the hardships faced by families of children born with cleft lip and palate. The Cleft Clinic attracts patients from all parts of the country, majority of whom are from low income backgrounds.
